Inground Pool Security Measures: Advanced Protection Information

Having a swimming pool installed in your backyard can mean a large transformation in a lot more ways than one. What was once perhaps a lawn, a patio and some shrubbery, now becomes an aquatic playground. Even so, there's but one more alteration that you simply could not have bargained for and that's that with a pool, your yard is going to be far more hazardous.

Now they might not make it into the nation's newspaper headlines, but the reality is that drowning is the second leading cause of accidental death among kids between the ages of 1 and 14. This is one extremely sobering statistic and it only serves to point up the reality that when you have kids in your house, you need to take pool safety seriously. You just can't afford to ignore it.

So for years now engineers and product developers have been working on coming up with new ways of making your yard safer and what they have come up with is quite amazing. New high tech inventions that are not only so much more fool proof and affordable, but they're also wireless and that means one thing. That's that they are fast and simple to set up right out of the box.

As an example, a wireless motion detector system can sound the alarm for you if anybody enters your pool area when it's not being supervised. The sensors themselves cost around $20, have a range of about twenty feet each and work in all types of weather. They are also calibrated well enough that they easily differentiate between a human and a dog or a cat.

Then if an unwelcome backyard intruder somehow slips past that line of security, there are floating alarms available. Little, simple to maintain floating motion sensors that sound the alarm if somebody should enter the pool. Also as incredible as that all sounds, would you believe that some models of floats, and heat and body sensors will even message you on your cell phone?

Through it all though, all of these high tech detection and alarm systems that bring a newer sense of security are not meant to replace some of the standard classics. Things like making sure that you have a well functioning gate, so the lock engages well when its closed. You also require a strong high quality pool cover to keep kids out in the winter months as well.
