Information About Iron

By:

An important element in the human body is iron. It is an important element that constitutes a part of the haemoglobin that helps in transporting oxygen in the body to all the parts of the body. It is also necessary for many of the metabolic activities and reactions in the body. One of the most wide spread deficiency of iron is anaemia and iron deficiency.

But what is the relationship between haemoglobin and iron? Well the answer is that iron is the main component of haemoglobin. The iron in the haemoglobin gets combined with the oxygen and is responsible for the transfer of oxygen through out the body of an individual.

What is the concentration of iron and haemoglobin in the blood? The answer is that an average human body contains 3.5 to 4.5 grams of iron out of which two-thirds of that is present in the haemoglobin while the rest is present in different parts of the body including bone-marrow, spleen and liver. A very small amount is also found in myoglobin that is responsible for storing oxygen in the muscle tissues.

Why it is necessary in the body or what will happen if I become iron deficient? My friend if you body becomes deficient of iron then it can lead to a condition called anaemia. It may hamper the synthesis of haemoglobin production thus leading to various grave situations in the body that includes pallor, loss of appetite, insomnia, headaches, breathlessness, lack of stamina and tiredness. These are all symptoms of lesser oxygen in your body and hence you should always look for these symptoms as a measure for iron deficiency in the body. It is now also known that lack of iron leads to lesser thinking capability of the brain.

So its better to be safe than to feel sorry for what you have done.
