On the day you wish to straighten your hair, make sure you use a smoothing shampoo and conditioner in order to tame your hair and make it easier to style. After that, use a straightening balm or a serum, whichever is suitable for your hair type. If you have very curly hair, it is better to use a serum. This is the most important step in the whole process. If you do not use any straightening product, then your hair will be prone to frizz and humidity and your style wont last that long. Also, since you will be heat styling your hair, it is important to use a thermal heat protecting product in your hair to prevent it from getting damaged. This can either be a spray or a cream which should be applied to damp hair.

When your hair is almost fifty percent dry, blow dry it straight using a round brush with natural bristles. Natural bristles are good for smoothing frizz prone hair and help distribute your hairs natural oils evenly throughout the length of your hair. Also, use a diffuser on your blow dryer to minimize the drying damage.

Once hair is completely dry, use a straightening iron to make hair perfectly straight, and finally set your style with a medium hold hair spray. Use a hair spray that is designed to fight off humidity so that you hair wont lose its style once you step outside. If you have any fly-aways or frizz, use a smoothing cream on the ends of your hair to give a sleek and shiny look.
