Inflatable Pontoon Boats For Beginners

By:

I am sure that you have heard of pontoon boats before, but maybe another type of boat that you may not have heard of is the inflatable pontoon boat. These are under the same principle as a party pontoon boat, as they stay afloat by two inflatable cylinder shaped pontoons under the deck. They come in many sizes, but for the most part all of them are relatively small, which makes them unique and easy to inflate.

You would be there all day if you had to inflate a boat that was 20 feet long. Inflatable pontoon boats are extremely popular among inshore fishermen, because of their sizes you can easily gain access to certain fishing spots that normal size boats would not be able to enter.

That is just one of the many benefits you will get with an inflatable pontoon boat. Another great benefit of owning one over a normal size heavier boat is the transportation. You will not need a trailer to lug them around, and most of them can be transported by stowing it in the trunk of your car or the back of your truck, wherever there is a little bit of room available.

The inflation process and setting up of the boat can be done in about 10 minutes in most cases, depending on what type and model that you have. Inflatable pontoon boats generally can hold one to two people on them, usually will have a chair or seat for each person.

They do not have the most room in the world, but you will have enough room to bring a fishing pole, along with a tackle box and a cooler. There are different sizes that are available and as with any type of vessel you will get what you pay for, especially when it comes to the amount of space you will have.

Most of them are powered by small outboard motors, usually nothing more than a 10 horsepower motor, which with such a light vessel you will have plenty of power to move the boat around. With the boat being so light you could easily reach speeds up to 10 knots or more.

Inflatable pontoon boats are not for everyone, if you have the money to afford a bigger pontoon boat that has a reasonable amount of square footage than by all means go for it. If you are on a tight budget, and want to get in the water on a boat, without the hassle of towing it with a trailer or paying marina fees, then an inflatable pontoon boat could be perfect for you.
