Individual Input Makes Teamwork Successful

Individual Input Makes Teamwork Successful

By:

One of the main things to remember about teamwork is that you must be able to show respect for others, for their opinions, beliefs and suggestions, even if those things differ from your own. You must have a good sense of fairness when you approach the situation because every person has a background that is different from others. Even people who have similar backgrounds will feel differently about some things because that is the nature of being human.

Good team members show respect to the team leaders in charge. This leader provides guidance and support, as well as delegate responsibilities to team members that will reduce or stop the chances of a project becoming chaotic. Without the proper direction from the leader some members will drop the ball, so to speak, while others will work tirelessly to correct mistakes, but will ultimately make the project unsuccessful and a waste of time and resources because no goals or requirements were met or followed.

The good thing about being on a team is that there are so many diverse opinions that can shed light on the same subject but from a different angle. People deserve respect for their upbringings and the cultures they believe in. They will always have some differing perspective that could have great value when considered with the problem at hand. Those with experience can show others what needs to be done without a problem.

When problems arise, as they sometimes do, there should always be someone monitoring the situation who will catch it and make a decision how to alter the plan to eliminate the problem. This usually falls to the leader. They will delegate to the proper staff member instructions on how to change what is currently being done. This only works if the team leader is doing their job, staying on top of the current program and watching for possible mishaps. They will communicate well with every member of the team, ensuring that they are all on the same page at all times, even if a change has no effect on the portion they specifically are working on. If everyone remains on the same page, it is easier to spot mistakes or come up with easier ways to do things because everyone is looking at the situation differently.

The opportunity to learn new things such as knowledge from experts in different disciplines, people with diverse backgrounds and from different cultures is the idea team atmosphere. Learning objectively will only increase your value and enrich your experiences. Keeping an open mind and leaving stereotyping to unlearned fools will always keep you learning from the best. Reaching the goal as a team unit is more important than playing John Wayne the character.
