India Needs To Expand Broadband Network Market

By:

In order to provide the public with better information services, India needs to spend billions of dollars to expand broadband network. In the next phase, India's growth of the telecom industry will come from the broadband network that covers the government departments, factories and media.

Bharti Airtel, Qualcomm and other companies last year spent 257 billion rupees, which is about $ 5.6 billion, to buy India's license of the wireless broadband Internet service. Japanese companies can also take this opportunity to provide equipment and services for India.

A report released by Telecom Regulatory Authority of India in the April of this year shows that in 2015, the number of broadband connections in India is expected to increase 13-fold to $ 160 million. And the number of telephone connections is expected to reach 1 billion. The analysts of the industry say that by the end of the March of this year, India has 846 million telephone subscribers nationwide and 11.9 million broadband connections.

It is expected that, according to this growth rate, they need to invest an additional of $ 19 billion in telecommunications equipment in 2015. In 2020, they will have to invest $ 34 billion.

The report shows that India's domestic production of telecommunications equipment can only meet 12 to 13 percent of the demand, making foreign-funded enterprises are expected to gain tremendous development opportunities from India in the next 15 years.

The analysts of the industry say that the Japanese equipment manufacturers will now have the opportunity to supply broadband network equipment for India. The country plans to invest 300 billion rupees to expand broadband services over the next two years. The key challenge that India is facing is the size and price. The spokesman of India says that they need new business partners, the new model to make money, and some innovation.

In India and other developing countries, the Internet and technology areas are experiencing rapid growth. But the lack of infrastructure lead to that the supply and demand is still evident.

Mobile broadband has changed the coverage of the Internet. There are over 450 million Internet connections in the worldwide. Through adequate spectrum allocation, India can become a leader in the offer of mobile broadband services. It can also achieve significant economic benefits. We fully support the Indian government to help all its residents to acjieve Internet connection. We look forward to an early release of 700MHz and 2.6GHz spectrum in line with international trends.
