India, The Next Stop For Independent Software Testing

By:

Software has become a vital part of almost every ones life, so much so that it is now unimaginable to think what we would do without software programs. Every end user wants quality, i.e. a bug free product. Maintaining quality in todays world is a must if you dont do what is required, you will never appease your client. You need to focus on what you are building, and if you are building it right. It all depends on the word right, which quality is assured. Over time, independent software testing has matured to the next level there is now a need for more expertise in specific domains of testing, such as Performance, Automation Security Database testing, etc.

Earlier, the general vibe was to do high level QA with in-house engineers while the rest was off-shored. Things have changed now, as even the high level QA are being done by offshore teams. This has certainly increased the demand for more QA Engineers. As per estimates made by market players in the Indian testing services industry, more than 20,000 QA Engineers are required to cater almost 70% of the global test services market. Todays clients are taking initiative to get their software tested by companies which are not into core development. The current market for global testing is around $15B, and it is estimated to reach around $25B by 2013, which means the Indian testing market has a bright future. If we talk about the margin, automated product testing gets you more as compared to the traditional functional testing. It is going to dominate the future of software testing, thanks to open source. Now we have a wide range of tools which can be, and are being used in the current market. There are several predecessors available for these tools because of the rapidly changing testing environment. Indian software testing industry has wooed the western software industry by providing quality assurance at less cost. A recent research conducted by Technavio depicts that Software Testing industry is expected to grow at a Compound Annual Growth of 11 % over the period of 2010-2014, and it could go over 50% for the offshore testing companies over the next few years. Spreading the word about scope of software testing in India is required so as to pull in more skilled QA engineers in the industry.

Social Media plays a pivotal role in promotion at a larger scale; therefore, offshore companies should use social media to promote themselves in the market to get more projects as well as more resources. Majority of engineering graduates are still unaware of the fruitful aspects of software testing in India. There are only few companies focusing on independent software testing, QA InfoTech, being one of the leaders in this industry. This is the time for such Independent Software testing companies to increase manpower and use it accordingly with latest technologies and help India in becoming the worlds No.1 software testing market.
