Indesign Technology And Objectives

Adobe has established a name in the Information Technology grounds. With their current standing, Adobe has created systems along with exams to sustain proficiency and excellence. One of these examinations is the InDesign CS4 exam for proficiency in InDesign application and also, to gain the Adobe Certified Expert (ACE) certification. The exam covers the following topics.
Lay Outing of Documents (18%). The examinee will work on master pages, utilize Quick Apply, and organize Layers within a document. Also, the examinee will be tasked to explicate the process of Data Merge and the importation of information to the InDesign document. The creation, application, editing, and manipulation of an object and text are also a task in this area.
Text (19%). The insertion of special characters, editing of text, the usage of Text Frame Options, and the usage of text manipulation is under this topic. The examinee will work to create a central GREP, client glossary, and give and arrange bullets to sections. The examinee will also be placed in a situation to create a document, change running head and to avoid typographical errors.
Table (6%). In this topic the examinee will be asked to change tables, check and set-up tables, organize styles of tables, and updating of data in the table.
Graphics (10%). The examinee will be asked to decide on the right setting for a certain image. Also, locating XMP of an image in InDesign, determining solutions for image problems, and handle files using the panel of Links.
Hue and Transparency (10%). Identification of hues, creation, modification and application of colors in the proper location, and the mixing of inks will be included in this topic. The assigning of effects of color to text and images and managing colors is under this exam topic.
Long Documents (11%). Insertion and formatting of notes, creation of books, documents and panel, and the creation of contents of table will also be tested. Ability in harmonizing pages, text characteristics, creation of certain text conditions and creation and application of references is also tested in the exam.
Cross-Media (11%). This topic includes the proper option for the export of files from XFL to Flash SC4, creation of relationship of InDesign document with PDF document, and the creation of hyperlinks from PDF files or SWF documents.
Prepress and Printing (15%). This topic involves the troubleshooting of Live PreFlight, Separations Preview and Flattener Preview. Also, a situation with the problem of the Print and PDF Preset or Export options will be provided.
The exam is composed of 62 items with a passing rate of 69%.
