Increasing Your Vertical Leap

Increasing Your Vertical Leap

By:

If you have played sports like me, when I used to play baseball, youve probably wondered how do you jump higher? Well there is an answer. Actually theres lots of ways and my intention is to help you find more ways to jump higher.

What you need to do first is the most critical. Its to lose weight. Now if you are already at a good bodyweight for your size then thats ok. The idea behind this is that you are trying to reduce body weight while increasing strentgh. Race cars for example can run better when they are stripped down to almost nothing but the frame and are as light as can possibly be. That's what you're trying to accomplish as well. Lower weight and increase production. You can do this by eating better foods and short distance running. Maybe half a mile to a mile.

If you are already in good shape then its time to start training. Body weight exercises are great if you are a novice athlete or if youve have not worked out before. Body squats (performed just like regular squats but without weight) and single leg calve raises are excellent for early development. By doing 3 sets of 25 to 30 body squats alone can help you achieve a couple of inches in a few weeks. I would only do calve raises about twice a week though because they can be easily overtrained.

After youve gained more strength, then you can move on to other workouts with weights and beginner plyometrics. Increasing your vertical leap is possible and you can do it with some dedication and hard work. Follow the steps in this article and you will be able to increase your jumping ability.
