Increasing Your Audience For Local Festivals

By:

Local events are a big part of keeping local economies healthy. The same is true of local festivals, and to a lesser degree local concerts. Promoters and businesspeople alike recognize that such special events encourage people to get out of the house, and once out, they are more likely to spend money be it at the concert or event itself, or while strolling around before or after the event. It is tempting to think that these events are strictly or mostly nighttime events catering to the club-going crowd. However, that is far from the fact. There are numerous events that occur during the daytime in order to attract the larger numbers of people available for daytime events. A young promoter, who themself is more oriented toward going out at night, may well forget all about daytime concerts, festivals, and other events. That is a big mistake.

There is a huge potential audience to be focused upon in the underage, parents with young to middle school children, and older adult crowds. These folks are looking for things to do mostly during the daytime hours. Parents need events that are fun for them and for the kids. Oftentimes parents desire a slightly educational edge to their choices making instructive events, outdoor events, and kid's music concerts excellent options for them. There are numerous daytime festivals with focuses on such things as natural living, sports focuses, skills to show off and learn, as well as just plain old fun. Unfortunately parents can be busy with day to day life and risk the chance of not learning about these events if they are not well promoted.

The underage crowd is practically aching for things to do, especially things away from mom and dad or with new college friends. Younger kids have curfews and college kids can not get into bars so they are seeking alternatives. Getting the word out to this demographic is important for they usually have a low number of bills and spending money from jobs. Making sure they know about local concerts, local daytime festivals, and other local events is a great way to help them out and make sure that your events are well attended. This group represents a different challenge for promoters because they are heavily marketed to, therefore it is important to use every resource at the promoter's disposal to reach these kids with word of the event. Remember this age group is highly focused on the quick ease of the Internet, so making your event easy to find online is key to bringing them to your concert or event.

Empty-nesters are another key group to focus on. These folks have already put the kids through school, and have moved up in the workforce giving them extra cash with which to finally enjoy themselves. Oftentimes, when it comes to evenings out, they are not going to stay out later than a movie or dinner. This means that the daytime usually is their time to have fun. Be sure to let them know about local daytime happenings and they will be there.
