In Business, Are You A Friend Or Just Friendly?

Have you thought about the difference between being a Friend or just being Friendly? This should bring laughs to some faces. Others may not know what is being referred to. If you use social networking online, you know the reference here. Most websites allow you to become a Friend, but is this how you conduct business? Are you a Friend or just friendly with your contacts? Think about it as we discuss this concept.

How do you see yourself or your business? Try to remember that you are not simply a Friend, just a friendly person, nor just a username. Neither should your clients and Friends be to you. You are both an individual and a business all wrapped up in one, as are your clients and Friends. So if you want to be more than just friendly with your clients, you need to be a Friend first. Take an interest in what others have to offer, but also how you can help them. Always try to find ways to share the benefits of working together in business.

Are you really a friend? Or are you just a Friend in a list of other usernames? Your life is not a social network and neither is your business. Some people just like you for your social value, since their fanpage is cool. We appreciate these customers, because they spread a lot of good word of mouth. These Friends of your company are invaluable. They already like what you do and are willing to say it loud. But not all customers get their needs satisfied by feeling liked. Most need real communication.

What is real communication? Is it possible today with all the electronic devices we use to do make communication happen? Real communication can be had with customers electronically, but it takes a little more effort. You must reach out to people directly in ways that are possible. It could be interactive videos, live blog feeds, streaming broadcast times or any number of other mediums. Direct responses are always appreciated by customers and clients. Always use them in imperative or important communications between businesses. Also remember not everyone is the same, some may not become your Friends easily.

Even if you can't be a Friend to everyone, you can take time when you first meet them. Rather than just click and approving everything you see, take a moment to look at it. Learn who your new Friend is, even if just for a moment. This is how you begin to establish a relationship in any form, by taking action right away. Not everyone expects you to be a Friend, most barely expect just Friendlyness. These are simple things to do, but make a big difference.

Even with social networks and online communication, there are still other problems with social business communication. Taking things in a more simple approach, by being Friends rather than just friendly is the most productive method. And if you're a Friend, act like one. Nobody is just a username or a profile. These are people, and they expect to be treated as such. In business, are you a Friend or just Friendly? It takes effort to have a real connection to clients in business of any type. This is why keeping these ideas in mind can be helpful. See what you can learn by paying attention to yourself and how you do business with others.
