Impounded
car auctions have a good selection of vehicles of different models and years of manufacture. Some rare models as well as luxury cars can occasionally be found here as well. In most cases, the cars are well-maintained, if not nearly new, and you are welcome to inspect them ahead of the auction. History reports and VIN reports are provided too, and you are free to make your own additional research.
If you are on a cheap vehicle hunt, you must have heard about impounded car auctions. Also known as repo or seized car auctions, they keep on gaining fame due to the lowest starting bids around. Ironically, this is, at the same time, what scares many people, who think that a good auto cant come at a low price.
So, are they scams? Definitely not - on the contrary, impounded car auctions are the most reliable and safest of all used auto auctions, because they are held by official government agencies, lending institutions and banks. Here, nobody is trying to cheat you and cash on your wish to save. The more so, as you can see from the starting bids, the vehicles are sold not to make a profit, but rather to simply get rid of them.
You may wonder why the government is not interested in raising the initial price. The answer is obvious: with thousands of cars being impounded every month due to various reasons, there is simply no capability to store and maintain them all. Rather than letting to rust and lose their value day after day, the vehicles are sold at an attractive price.
However, dont raise your expectations too high. Impounded car auctions dont automatically mean that you will drive a posh car for a few hundred bucks at the end of the auction. Although good vehicles can start with a very low bid, the sum will inevitably increase, sometimes very drastically, especially if a lot of bidders are involved. But then, this is what happens at every auction - a highly desirable item will attract extra attention.
Sometimes, to get used to the auctions pace and feel more confident when making a bid, you need to attend a few auto auctions. With a little time and practice you are bound to learn all the ropes of successful bidding.
