Who is Luke to talk about immortality? Luke was a medical practitioner, also a book writer, yes, his books are been written all over the world for 2000 years. English, Spanish, German, Chinese, African, Portuguese etc., his letters are been translated in many languages.
So, what do he says about immortality? Let"s read on Luke 20:36 "Nor can they die anymore, for they are equal to the angels and sons of God, being sons of the resurrection." The purpose of Luke in writing his book, was to give and organized and detailed story of the life of Jesus, and tell what the actual witness saw.
Then according to Luke, what we got is really what Jesus said, in this verse we can see Jesus answering a tricky question, and as you can see, there was no problem for Jesus teaching about life after dead, he knows everything.
Let"s take a look at others opinion on immortality.
According to John:
John 8:51 "Most assuredly, I say to you, if anyone keeps my word he shall never see death."
John 11:26 "and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?"
According to Paul
Romans 2:7 "Eternal life to those who by patient continuance in doing good seek for glory, honor, and immortality."
I Corinthians 15:53 "I urge you, brethren-you know the household of Stephanas, that it is the first fruits of Archaia, and that they have devoted themselves to the ministry of the saints."
2 Corinthians 5:1 "For we know that if our earthly house, this tent, is destroyed, we have a building from God, a house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens."
I Thessalonians 5:13 "Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And thus we shall always be with the Lord."
2 Timothy 1:10 "But, has now been revealed by the appearing of our Savior Jesus Christ, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light through the gospel."
The reason why many people don"t want to talk about death is because of fear, human beings are afraid of the unknown, and some mystery is involved in life after death, we heard about HELL so many times.
The word death and Hell are associated in our mind automatically, since childhood we been listening of the consequences of sin.
