If I'm Looking For Next Day Service, What Time Do I Have To Place My Order?

The time that you must place your order by in order to receive a certain type of courier service is known as the cut off tine. Cut off times are going to be very different depending on which distribution logistics company you are using. There are some generalizations that can help you guess which kind of companies are going to have which type of cut off times though. These are largely determined by what type of courier company it is that you're dealing with.

If you're dealing with a 24 hour courier, you're going to have more flexibility than with any other type of courier company if you're trying to arrange for next day service. Because they are open all through the night, they are able to process orders and arrange for dispatches much later in the day than a courier company which has to close at some point in time is going to be able to do. If you can take advantage of a 24 hour courier, you may have the complete prior day (up until midnight) to arrange for next day service. As always, cut off times for service are set by the individual courier companies, and can be very different from each other.

If you're dealing with a courier that is not open 24 hours, their cut off times will likely be spread over the course of the day depending on exactly what type of service you're looking for. For example, if you're trying to arrange for a following day pickup, they will usually require that the order be in several hours before the end of their working day. If you're requesting actual next day service, where the package will be delivered by the end of the following day, they will usually require that the order be placed sometime in the morning the day before you want the delivery completed.

If you want next day service and have missed all the possible cut off times, your options move into opting for same day service on the following day instead. This can be a viable option, because although same day services have very early cut off times, because you are already aware of the shipping need, you should have no problem placing the request the following day. Any sort of rush or NFO service is another way to make sure that you can get a fast pickup made.
