COD shipping is something that used to be more often, but you can still find a Chicago courier service that will ship COD regularly. If you're ordering products from companies that utilize COD shipping, then you need to realize that you have certain rights involved in receiving that type of shipment. The most important of these is the fact that you have the right to refuse to accept anything which is delivered to you on a COD basis.

When shipping COD a company is going to accept this risk, however it is important that you don't decide to refuse a shipment without good reason. When you choose to order something COD it means that you haven't paid for the product yet. Instead of paying for the product before the company you buy from ships it, like you typically would, you instead are supposed to pay the courier company when they complete the delivery for the full price of the shipment.

The law says that you have the right to refuse any shipment that is going to be sent to you in this fashion. What you need to remember though, is that this just might be the best possible way to buy products from a company. It lets you order something safely and securely, because you know that you are going to have the product in your hands before you ever pay for it. If you refuse a COD shipment without good reason though, it is unlikely that a company would allow you to use that option for shipping again in the future.

There are a few reasons why you should refuse a COD shipment though, which are why the law was put in place in the beginning. If a product shows up and is broken or damaged, is one. The best reason of all is if the product shows up and is not as it was advertised or described to you. This is the kind of consumer fraud which people would be very vulnerable too if they were required to pay for anything shipped to them COD.

COD shipping is something which seems to be making a bit of a resurgence, so you may have the option to have more and more things to be shipped to you in this method. Always make sure that you really want something before ordering it, as you shouldn't refuse COD shipments just because you've changed your mind.
