Identifying Initial Herpes Infection Symptoms

Identifying Initial Herpes Infection Symptoms

By:

Comprehension of the initial herpes infection symptoms assists in people not thinking they have some other illness. Other conditions that look similar include yeast infections, insect bites, jock itch, ingrown hair follicles or razor burn. The way to get this right is to have frequent routine check ups.

One of the first signs of this condition will be tenderness around the genital area. The genitals may be tender to the touch, itchy, swollen and red. These should occur before any sores or blisters present themselves. It may also be that no blisters occur at all.

A few days later could reveal the presence of one or more lesions that are filled with fluid. Most often, these are quite small, but they could be very uncomfortable. There may be fissures located near the anus. Red bumps and a rash could also be present. Once the skin on the blisters has broken, small ulcers could appear. At this point, a clear or milky colored fluid will leak from the ulcers. After this the sores dry out, a crust is formed. It is possible that the sores heal with no formation of crust. It is not guaranteed that the virus is gone when the ulcer is healed. The scab may have fallen off and the virus could still be present.

Other symptoms could be burning during urination, headaches, fever, muscle aches, genital discharge, itching and burning of the genital area and back pain. Swelling of the lymph glands may also be present. This is one of the best signs that infection is present.

Viral shredding that is asymptomatic is prevalent with this. Over fifty percent of sufferers will not have any experience of symptoms. This does not mean that they cannot transmit the disease to other people. Eighty percent of the sufferers will more than likely have recurrence of HSV-2 and fifty percent of those who have HSV-1. Often, people will have recurrences as much as once each quarter. This is especially the case in the first twelve months. This is because there is much viral activity and the virus replicates in the nerve ganglia. The nerve transports the virus to the site of the primary infection.

There are tangible factors that influence the probability of one contracting this. These are also responsible for compromising the immune system. These would include trauma due to surgery, genital infections, menstruation, consumption of alcohol and extended periods of stress. Friction from having sex can tear the skin and cause the condition to recur.

At the presence of initial herpes infection symptoms, visit with the doctor right away. He or she will confirm the disease with certain tests. For symptomatic relief, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory lotions may be prescribed.
