Identify The Right Fireplace For Your Home

For hundreds of years, people created fireplaces so they will have a source of heat during the cold weather. Today though, aside from the added warmth, fireplaces are also enjoyed for their aesthetic beauty and the cozy ambiance they give out to the home. Choosing the right kind of fireplace, however, is a challenging task because there is a good deal of designs and types to choose from.

Wood burning, gas burning, and electric burning are the three types of fireplaces. Knowing which of these types of fireplaces you want for your home should be your utmost priority.

Wood burning fireplaces are the traditional and most common fireplaces. This type of fireplace will give you the liberty and self-satisfaction to cut and throw your own wood to the fire. Although these fireplaces have been improved to give out minimal ashes while burning, a chimney is still needed in order for the smoke to escape from the house. Having a chimney, consequently, make these fireplaces difficult to install. Moreover, these newly designed fireplaces have an inner firebox to allow oxygen to move freely thereby producing cleaner fire. Among the three kinds, wood burning fireplaces also require the greatest requirement for a fireproof hearth because burning wood will produce more fire.

Gas burning fireplaces, on the other hand, do not require a chimney because there is no smoke produced. The fire from this kind of fireplace, although artificial, looks and feels realistic. Installing this fireplace is also easily done if you already have a gas line running through your house. They are also effortlessly handled because they can be managed with a single touch of a button. A thermostat is used to control the flame and heat according to the room temperature. With a remote control, this fireplace can be adjusted from anywhere around the room. Since the fire is artificial, cutting and burning wood are not necessary. Gas burning fireplaces run on either Natural Gas or Liquid Propane which are both easily available.

If you prefer your fireplace to be placed somewhere out of the ordinary, electric burning fireplaces are best suitable for your home. Both wood burning and gas burning fireplaces need to be located where there is a chimney and a gas line, respectively, which prevent them to be placed anywhere you want them. An electric burning fireplace, however, do not require a vent so positioning it anywhere you want is possible. This kind of fireplace is also cost effective and least vulnerable to danger because neither wood nor gas is needed to run it. Like the gas burning fireplace, this is also controlled effortlessly with the help of a remote control. Detecting the oxygen level is done by the sensors inside the fireplace. If it’s too low, it shuts itself automatically.

Now that you know the different types of fireplaces, choosing the right kind for your home will be a breeze. Whether you want it done traditionally or automatically, fireplaces both have the function and splendor that will surely add a little more life to your home.
