Ideas To Personalize Your Office Workspace

By:

Workspaces are now spaces for people to feel comfortable, have enough room to function and interact well, and take a break now and then. Architects and interior designers are taking huge efforts to design workspaces that are unique and eye-catching.

Workspaces need to be designed in ways to manage the large numbers of people moving from one area of the office to the other. There should be a clear area for the main flow of human traffic. This ensures that people are not bumping into each other constantly. Additionally a workspace should have place for smaller groups of people or teams to gather.

It is also important that workspaces should have space for people to gather, both formally and informally. An important part of a working day is the meetings that take place, and workspaces must have provisions for these. In addition, an equally important part of work life is the bonds created between co-workers and colleagues. Workspaces should have rooms or areas in which people can eat lunch together, or take tea or coffee breaks.

Another important element of the design of workspaces is the ventilation and cooling or heating. A badly ventilated workspace leads to a drowsy, lazy feeling. Well-ventilated workspaces are essential to employees feeling healthy and being productive. Regulated heating or cooling in workspaces helps people feel comfortable and focused. Natural light is important in workspaces. A workspace in which fluorescent lighting is used from the start of the working day is not healthy and can prove counter-productive.

Making your workspace a place you like to be in is important. This means ensuring you are comfortable, and surrounded by things that make you happy. Your chair should be at the right height for you, and should be comfortable to sit on for long periods. Buying a small pillow to fit in the hollow of your back might make your workspace more ergonomic and welcoming. If you feel cold easily, keep a shawl or sweater close at hand. A bottle of water and a coffee mug of your own mark the workspace as yours! Some people like to have photographs of children, pets, family or friends while some prefer to have postcards of exotic travel destinations or posters of their favorite movies or celebrities on their softboards.

However you choose to make your workspace more comfortable, it is important that you feel at home as much as possible.
