Ideas For Family Night

By:

Whether it's spending some time with your daughter playing free online girl games, or calling the whole family together for a board game, family night is something that should be regularly implemented in your household. Family nights are a wonderful way to bond with your children. The demands of bosses, maintaining our homes, and balancing work with family have led to the need to set aside time to reconnect.

If you have teenagers, don't dismiss that they need bonding time as well. With younger children, they make it well-known that they crave attention from Mom and Dad. Our teenagers sometimes equate family time to Chinese water torture. Don't let their indifferent attitudes dissuade you.

The days of gathering around the dinner table with your family have drifted away, but that doesn't mean the need for bonding time also has. Once a month, set aside some time when all the members of the household forego their extra-curricular activities to spend time with one another. It may appear to be a daunting task but it isn't impossible.

Get your family together and let them know that you plan to spend more time with them and family nights will become a priority. Barring any natural disasters, make this one night a month a priority. If you hear moans and groans emanating from your teenagers, just disregard them.

When you have your children on board, regardless of whether it took coercion and bribery, decide what you want to do with your family time. Movies are an easy choice but I wouldn't recommend them on a regular basis. The goal of family night is reconnection. If a particular movie has a message you want to impart to your children, you will want to make sure to engage them in conversation afterwards.

Yes, board games do still exist and are a great way to share some family time together. You can make it a competition, but keep it light-hearted. Consider purchasing a few inexpensive items to dole out as awards. You can find quite a few options at your local dollar store. Purchase several items and be creative to ensure that everyone receives an award.

If your budget allows, exploring new restaurants in your area is also a fun way to spend family night. Steer clear of the chain establishments for this one evening and find that hole-in-the-wall caf that offers history and character. While dining, you can play the "high-low-funny" game. Each person tells what their high for the week was, their low, and something funny that happened to them.

These are just a few ideas to get the ball rolling. Mainly focus on reconnecting with your loved ones. Turn off the cell fun and spend some time dressing a fairy in a free online girl game with your daughter. Engage the entire family in a game of touch football. No matter the choice, remember to listen to your children when sharing this time with them.
