I've always wanted to sell gold jewelry. I have so much of it in my jewelry box that I never wear, yet my bills were piling up beyond belief. I was afraid that I might have to move back in with my parents to avoid homelessness.

I was first introduced to the idea when a friend of mine told me that she had just shipped off her old wedding band that she didn't want anymore in a pre-paid envelope. I was totally skeptical. I was afraid that being able to sell gold jewelry was a scam. I told her that her blond must be coming out and that she had just made the stupidest mistake of her life! I was convinced that she had just wasted her time and thrown away her ring. Even though she wanted to get rid of all memories of her ex-husband, I told her that she would have been better off taking the ring to a pawn shop.

My friend told me that I was absolutely, positively wrong. She said that it was possible to sell gold jewelry and get better rates than the pawn shop. We grabbed my stuff and went to pawn shop to see how much they would give me if I were to sell gold jewelry. They offered me pennies on the dollar! I laughed, and nearly cried, and my friend and I left. By the time we got home my friend's check had arrived. She got as much money for her single ring as the pawn shop wanted to give me if I were to sell gold jewelry to them by the bagful.
