The military recently ended its dont ask dont tell policy which allows gay men and women to serve openly. I think that many of our gay servicemen and women may have the wrong idea about what this means. The military is an organization which stresses discipline and the good of the organization over the good of its members. This doesnt mean that you cant serve if you are gay but it means that you still have to serve according to the terms of the military. If you are a flaming, extravagant queen you cant flame while on duty. You have to conform to the rules and mores of the military.
You can not receive federal benefits if you are not a man and woman couple. Gay marriages are not recognized and neither should they be. The purpose of marriage is for procreation and it is the union of couples of the opposite sex. Anything else is an anomaly which can be made official. We cant say that it is right because we want to do it.
If you drive an automobile you cant put oil in your gas tank and expect it to work. You just cant say that it is so because you want it to be so. That is not the wat that the universe is set up.
The situation that I am referring to is the fact that a group of gay active and retired military personnel who are married are suing the federal government for the same benefits as straight military couples arguing it's a matter of justice and national security. Now if you want to sue thats fine but dont lie and say that your getting benefits which you dont legally deserve is a matter of national security because it isnt.
The lawsuit filed in U.S. District Court in Boston says the government's Defense of Marriage Act violates their constitutional rights and asks the military to recognize their marriages and provide spousal benefits. This act does not violate their constitutional rights because the constitution never addresses this problem. That arguement has no merit whatsoever.
Under the federal Defense of Marriage Act, the Pentagon is required to ignore same-sex marriages, which are legal in six states and Washington D.C. and were legal for a time in California.
The real reason for this lawsuit is to support the national gay agenda. The people who are filing it are doing so with no other purpose than to force their agenda onto the rest of the population of this country.
I knew that this would happen. Once they get a victory in one area they will steadily and forcefully push in another area. My problem is that the military is not the place to play politics. Even if you dont agree with the order and discipline of our Armed forces you need to remember that that same order and justice has kept this country free from aggression and tyranny since its inception. We dont need to touch that because some group wants to make their mark or impression on the world.
If you ask me if gay men and women should be able to serve in our armed forces I will say by all means, but they must serve according to the terms of the military.
