Ultrasonic humidifiers operate when a metal diaphragm vibrating at an ultrasonic frequency releases drops of water which then exit the humidifier in form of a fog or mist. This option aids in the release of less pathogens in the environment because they are killed during the heating process. This is in addition to warming up a room.

There are single room humidifiers and whole house humidifiers. Single room humidifiers are used in small scale. They keep single rooms adequately humidified and are fairly portable therefore one can place it at a strategic point within a room so as to achieve maximum comfort levels.

Whole house humidifiers are used on a much grander scale and are installed by expert technicians, they as their name suggests, control the whole house humidity levels. The downside, however, is that individual rooms cannot have different humidity so whatever level has been set will affect the whole house. However, these humidifiers require little or no attention at all as they are incorporated in the house water system so no need for constant refilling and they do not occupy unnecessary space in the house.

Evidently, Ultrasonic humidifiers allow one the freedom, depending on the weather or climatic conditions of their place to choose between warm mist and cool mist options. During cold dry weather they can choose the warm mist while during hot dry weather they can opt for the warm mist
