How To Make Money With Horse Betting Systems

Using horse betting systems can be a very slippery slope if you aren't careful. One mistake on a "sure thing" and you could very easily lose your shirt instead of cleaning up the cash.

A lot of people think that they'll be able to retire early by making a few simple bets if they can just find the right betting system to follow, in most cases this simply isn't true. It often takes a lot more than reading a pamphlet or subscribing to a weekly newsletter to be a successful gambler.

Let's take a look at some of the more popular gambling systems and what can work, or not work for the betting public.

Tipping Services

This is one that you have to be extraordinarily careful with. Anyone that can afford the advertisement can claim to be a horse betting specialist or expert, so that alone should make you initially warey of this type of approach.

The big question to ask yourself is - that if this person was so top notch at picking winners, why wouldn't he just pick the winners himself and make his money that way. The old adage "those who can, do and those who can't teach", doesn't really apply to gambling - if the tipster can pick the winner for you he can most certainly pick the winner for himself.

That's not to say that you can't make money by following "experts" tips, just make sure that if you are going to be following an "expert" that they really are as good as they claim. The person should have some kind of documented history or track record if they are going to claim supreme horse betting knowledge.

Progresssive Betting Systems

These are probably the oldest types of betting systems around - and quite possibly the easiest to be "successful" in, depending upon which progressive system you follow. Some progressions set the gambler up for small winnings, following with small increases on a predetermined amount for each bet. On the down side of the progression system - if you follow one that allows for a streak of easy small wins in the beginning raising the bet each time out, you run the risk of your first loss being a major one.

There are literally dozens and dozens of books and online systems for purchase dealing with the perfect progressive system. Each salesman will tell you that his positive or negative progression is better than any other system because (fill in the blank here), but in reality, the only guarantee that comes with progressive systems is risk.

Selection Systems

Selection systems are a far cry from a quick money fix, those people who think that they can read the racing papers for a couple of weeks and be an automatic expert on what each horse running can accomplish is in for a huge disappointment.
Succeeding in a selection system requires a tremendous amount of research.

The idea behind a selection system is in, as the name implies, selecting the horse that is going to win based on research. A lot of new gamblers don't want to put in all of the time and effort it takes to pick winners based on a selection system. It's a lot more involved than most people want to get.

You need to research, not just the horse's success and failure rate over the course of the last few races, but how they run on different surfaces and how they run in different types of weather. You need to be in tune to the horse's workout and be aware of any injuries or illnesses. Though not an exact science by any stretch of the imagination, I think selection systems can be the most successful of any gambling system, if the bettor is willing to put in the effort.

There isn't necessarily a guaranteed way to make money with gambling systems, if there were they wouldn't call it gambling anymore, but with a good combination of diligent research and being in tune with true expert picks a gambler can certainly see some excellent results from the money they invest.
