How Well Do You Know Your Optima?

By:

I think the Kia Optima with Optima Hubcaps is the most famous car that comes from Kia manufacturers. For most of the time that its been out on the market, its been pegged as something called an also-ran vehicle.

Because the car was introduced as Kias very first mid-size sedan, the first generation Optima couldnt really give drivers the promise of the refinement documented reliability and assured resale value that its Japanese car competitors gave. I guess they didnt want to promise something that may not be true and then come up short with no sales left at the end, you know?

The small group of people that did buy the car found the Optima to be worth the amount of money that they spent on it. It gave them a bang for their buck. The car had a pretty solid build quality, some pretty amazing features that everyone would have wanted in their car, an unbelievable warranty, and the nice looking Optima Hubcaps .

The second generation Optima was a lot like the first generation .. but with better stuff on it. Its built off of the newer & largest platform that Kia had at that time. The second generation (which is probably the model that Id go for) has more than enough comfort for all passengers, enough safety features for all passengers (even if the passengers are below a year old), pretty good handling, enough room in the interior for no complaints from the people sitting in it, and the same focus on things like warranty and price.

The Optima thats on the market today comes in a choice of two trim levels : Base or EX. You can buy both of these models with either a 175-horsepower 2.4-liter four-cylinder or a 194-hp 2.7-liter V6 .. but dont V6 engines waste a lot of gas? I think my truck is a V6 & I have to fill it up pretty often ..

Anyway, theres a five speed manual transmission that comes standard on the LX model. The automatic transmission came as an option on the LX and standard on the EX and SX.

Even though the base 4-cylinder gives a pretty standard competitive acceleration whenever you press on the pedal, the Optimas V6 comes in as disappointing. Its noticeably smaller and noticeably less powerful than the other six cylinders in the market. I guess you can come to the conclusion that the car is n muscle car, but the responsive suspension and steering make it really enjoyable to drive - it almost makes it fun to drive, even with these gas prices. If you want a basic summary, I can tell you that the ride quality you get with the car is smooth, the cabin is spacious, and the materials that make up the inside make a pretty good impression.

If you get the automatic equipped LX with Optima Hub Caps on it, youll come to find that it was the best standard features like a telescoping steering wheel, the antilock brakes, stability control, front-seat side airbags and full-length side curtain airbags. So .. Im guessing its a pretty good family car? And all this is standard? Pretty great value.

Most people really dont go for Kias, but if I think that if you were to take a look at this model, youll find that Kia models are better than decent; theyre wonderful to drive. A lot of drivers see Kia as their last resort, but try to make it your first priority if youre on the market for a new car.
