Make every day an Earth Day, save money and live healthier. Give future generations the chance to enjoy the bounties of our beautiful planet instead of using up the resources and gifting them with a rapidly heating climate that reduces theirs and future generations quality of life. Living green you not only show respect for our Earth; but, your love and concern for your children and theirs. This is how we all benefit by living green in this generation and for those to follow. As we move in this direction, we will find more ways to go green are being developed. A great example of this is the development of a car that runs on biogas being tested in the United Kingdom that uses processed methane gas that generated as part of the sewage treatment process.

In the news lately is evidence that global warming is upon us. Argentina is facing a freezing spell, the worst in forty years. Russians are hundreds of wildfires; while Asia and parts of Africa are facing major floods. In China, conditions are expected to worsen with major rivers rising above the warning level. Muscovites are wearing face masks to protect them from the smog caused by the burning fires. The Russians are experiencing their most intense heat wave in over a century.

This extreme weather is a sign of Global Warming. The UN expects that ninety million Africans are at risk. In Africa, climate change is noticeable with a extreme and unpredictable weather replacing predictability.

Green energy tips

You may want to generate your own renewable power either off grid or tied to the grid; or you might want to start using renewable energy generated by power companies. You can make your energy usage more efficient by purchasing energy saving appliances and lighting for the home and by conducting home energy assessment, also known as a home energy audit. You can spot problems like leaks. You may want to see if you have proper insulation. Infrared inspections might help you make a quick determination of any hidden anomalies in the structure of your home or its materials and in any type of house. Set your thermostat a few degrees lower in the winter and a few degrees higher in the summer to save on your energy bill. Unplug appliances when not in use; or, use a smart power strip that senses when appliances are off and cuts off phantom energy use. Wash clothes in cold water as much as possible and use a drying rack or clothesline to save the energy.

Do not use bottled water and favor filtered tap water instead.

Use public transport as much as possible, walk and bike where you can. Lobby your government to provide more sidewalks and lanes for bike riding. Purchase an electric bike or an electric car. Telecommuting can also save burning fossil fuels in traffic.

Green habits

Recycle, rent, borrow and share more. Wear clothes that do not need to be dry cleaned. You will discover that embracing the green alternatives is going to save you money. Embrace the joy of being environmentally friendly and a good manager of the household account. There are many small ways that can go a long way to reduce landfill waste, clean the air, and preserving the environment. Involve your children and pass on to a new generation the way to live green and feel great.
