Writing great survey questions can help your business out in many ways. We all know that business is based on providing excellent customer service. How do you know if you are completely satisfying your customers? You simply ask.

As a business owner or manager it may be tempting to ask the customer if they are satisfied and leave it at that. When you write a survey you can add questions that get in depth to issues that are important to your customer.

Getting your customers opinion can help them feel more valued. Many customers want to provide feedback. So when writing survey questions where do you start? First decide what information you want from the customer. That can help you decide if you want to ask open ended questions such as, "What did you like about your experience with us?" versus a yes/no question.

Many surveys give the customer the opportunity to choose from different responses on a scale. This can be done with numbers such as asking the customer to rate a certain area from a scale of 1-5. You can also ask the customer if their experience was poor, good, great or excellent. There are many variations to multiple choice questions.

Once you have decided what information you want you can base your question around that. It is important to ask the question in a clear simple way. You don't want to confuse the customer when they are taking time to help you by completing a survey.

Once you get started you can write great survey questions. Put yourself in the customer's shoes and see what you would like to be asked about. Remember how valuable their opinion is and keep in mind this is to gather information to help increase their satisfaction and in turn improve the success of your business.
