How To Use The Law Of Detachment

What is the law of detachment?

The law of detachment is simply a spiritual principle about letting go from the outcome of a particular situation. Its about resting in the complete grace of God, knowing that He is working everything through you and together for your greatest good. Thus the saying Let go and let God.

How can I be detached from an outcome?

First of all realise that you as a human have many capabilities, however you are not able to be completely in control like God. The truth is that there sometimes will be things that will not be in your locus of control. The law of detachment promotes this principle.

Let God take control

To be detached you will need to learn to relinquish some of your control so God can come in and do whatever it takes to bring into reality whatever is best for you. This can be a real advantage when going through a dark time in life, as when you Cast your cares upon God you feel a sense of peace and trust knowing that God has your back.

Detachment is freeing

When you are attached, youre insecure and stressed because you feel the control is in your hands. Whereas when you detach, you stop worrying and bothering about whatever is at hand. Its a freeing and enlightened way to live life. Nothing really owns you. You let go and trust in life and in God you know that you dont have to control everything - being a control freak will only stress you. Take the example of your heart; you dont control it to beat, yet it works on its own.

The irony of detachment

Detachment has an interesting paradox. The amazing thing is that when you let go of something, you end up having power over it. For example, if you break away from the attachment of having something, it tends to effortlessly come to you. Attachment to something or an outcome will only create stress and insecurity and you begin to need it in order to survive.

Detachment and relationships

Detachment is a great principle to practice in a relationship, especially in one where you constantly feel insecure. This is because when you detach from needing someone, they cannot control or manipulate you anymore.

The irony is that when you chase and try to control or own a partner, the more the relationship will evade you. When you are excessively attached to your partner you will struggle to try to keep them, which means you will be on your toes trying to gain their constant approval. This type of romantic attachment will only repel your partner and make you feel insecure, especially if you feel unworthy to keep your man or woman.

How can I use the law of detachment when I want him so badly?

Create the hunt first by taking aboard detachment. How do you do this? You do this simply by playing hard to get! Detach yourself from your instinctive need to get close and intimate with the object of your desires. The first prerequisite of chemistry is already there so dont feel afraid to hold back just enough so that you dont turn off the magnetism - have some fun having the other person hunt you down instead. You will be surprised to see that the apple of your eyes will flock to you like a moth to a flame.

Become comfortable with detachment

The secret to using the law of detachment is to keep your eyes on your objective, even though you have given up having it or controlling the outcome of it. Know that the law of detachment in no way tells us cut off our desires. Its only when these desires enslave us that they become a negative influence. Detachment is the secret key to obtaining everything you want. You will be amazed at how whatever you previously chased or desired will come to you effortlessly when you decide to let go.
