The program compatibility assistant helps troubleshooting the compatibility issues in order to install the programs successfully without any computer help. When you try to install any software which is not compatible to the available operating system, the program compatibility assistant will come up with the advice that the software will not install correctly and you have install it again by selecting the reinstall using recommended settings option. It goes though the issues and fixes them so that you get the ability of installing the software.

In this case you require a troubleshooter for fixing the issue. For this, right click on the program you want to troubleshoot and select the troubleshoot compatibility option. Your OS will detect the issues and you can run the program with recommended settings or you can opt for the troubleshooting wizard. The recommended settings will allow us in doing a test running of the program to check if the revised settings solve the problems. Click on start the program option to start the test run. Once you have tested and determined whether the setting works or not, click next. Now these programs will always run in compatibility mode for your selected Windows version.

This will hopefully solve the compatibility related problems by running those programs in the earlier Windows versions.
