How To Use A Flat Iron

Wouldn't it be nice if you could just get out of the shower and go and still have nice, smooth, straight hair? There might be a choice few that have this luxury, but for most of us, if we want straight hair, we have to put a little time in to get it that way. One of the best ways to achieve a flyaway-free straight look is with a flat iron.

When it comes to buying a flat iron, there are a lot of choices. It might seem like they are all the same, but they aren't. To get a high quality flat iron that is going to do the job and not damage your hair, you are probably going to have to spend more money. Trust me when I say, it will be worth it. Heat can do a lot of damage to your hair, especially if you are using it every day. Ceramic plates on a flat iron help keep the damage to a minimum more so than other types of metals. But even if the flat iron says it has ceramic plates, it doesn't mean it is the best option.

You want a flat iron that is going to work in one shot. You don't want to have to go over the same piece of hair more than once. If you do, you'll simply increase the amount of damage to your hair with each styling session. Down the road, you'll see even more flyaways and your hair will look much more rough and dull.

For a little extra help getting a smooth shiny look, you will want to use a hair smoothing serum. Don't use too much or your hair will end up looking greasy and weighed down. To get the best results with the flat iron, start out with a small chunk of hair. Place the flat iron at the root of the hair and then pull out. With a good flat iron, you will only have to go over the piece of hair once.

It is important that you take care not to put too much of the smoothing serum in your hair. If you are trying to manage a few unruly pieces, it might be tempting, but if you do, then chances are your hair will end up looking greasy and flat. Less is almost always better. Once you go over the hair with the flat iron, you can reassess if any extra gloss needs to be applied.

You might not think it is worth it to spend the money on a high quality flat iron, but trust me when I say once you use one, you will never want to go back. The right flat iron will leave your hair feeling smooth and soft. You will also find that your hair will stay straight unless you get it wet. Flat irons really are the fastest and easiest way to create a straight sleek look.
