The key to successfully learning how to teach sit, you should teach puppy to sit with patience and a positive attitude. Punishment using physical force will not help you teach puppy to sit. What you are going to do is take a treat and place it close to his nose, then bring it above his head slightly and move it down towards his back tail area.

Telling him to sit as you do this. He should naturally sit on his own. If he sits for even a second, give him that treat and give praise. Once you have learned how to teach sit to your dog, you can use the command anywhere you go. Mastering how to teach sit, requires constant repetition. Try to teach puppy to sit in other places besides your house or yard. Try sidewalks when taking a walk.
