How To Take Care Of Your Travertine Tiles?

Travertine tiles are delicate stones that compliment all type of designs. The hardness factor of this stone is lower than marble or granite. It gets warred out after sometime but serves for long span, if you maintain them carefully. It is highly reactive against acidic cleaners or solvents. Avoid them and follow the given below tips and techniques for the care and maintenance of your tiles.


Travertine tiles require extreme care. So, seal them as soon as they are installed. If the natural stone is polished, then you can save on your sealing costs. A good quality sealant adds luster to your tiles and acts as a barrier between the tile and dirt or stains.

If you have installed the tiles in your kitchen or bathroom, then you can find spillage of fruit juices, vinegar, soda, toiletry products etc. Wipe these spills as soon as possible. This prevents etching and staining of the tile surface.

For regular cleaning regimes, prefer hot water cleaning. Spill hot water and blot the stains with a soft sponge. You can also use a cotton cloth to clean the tile surface. You can also use mild soap or detergent occasionally.
