How To Start Working Smarter Not Harder

By:

One of the things I heard a lot growing up is, "You have to work hard to get ahead." Well, working hard usually means grueling hours, having no life, and certainly is not a lot of fun. It is this very belief that often keeps business owners stuck, exhausted, overworked, and underpaid.

Why, when hard work is suppose to help you get ahead? In reality as a small business owner you will only bring in as much business as you feel you can handle. If you are feeling exhausted, overworked, and like a slave to your business you are not going to feel very excited about growing and expanding your business. If you don't feel like you can handle the new business because you are burned out trying to manage the business you have then your business and your income will stay stuck where it is today.

Well what I have discovered as I have worked with dozens and dozens of small business owners is that there is another way. It is possible to create a thriving and growing small business that creates personal freedom, flexibility, and abundant financial rewards. How? I'll give you a hint, working harder is not the answer. The answer is quite simple and it can be summed up in one word . . . leverage.

So what is leverage and how can you create it in your business? Leverage is simply exerting minimum effort for maximum results. There are three key components that can help you to start to introduce leverage into your business.

1. Move from one-to-one to one-to-many. The more you can move your business from one-to-one model to a one-to-many model the more you will be able to do with less time. Introducing group service offering, group marketing, and systems into your business lowers the amount of effort required to get results.

2. Remove yourself as the bottleneck in your business. I often find that business owners become the bottleneck in their business preventing new business from flowing in, or new ideas from being implemented. Why? Because they don't have enough people to help them, or because everything flows through them first. When you remove yourself as the bottleneck in your business a steady stream of new opportunities, and increased income will flow to you.

3. Always know your next step. Often business owners spend the majority of their time and energy focused on the urgent and necessary, what's pulling at them right now, and don't spend enough time thinking about or preparing for what's next. You always want to be thinking about what's coming next so you are leveraging one opportunity to the next.

When you leverage your actions, you start to work smarter not harder. You will see you activity level increase, you will attract more clients, and as a result you will see your income grow exponentially! The more leverage you introduce the more personal freedom and financial freedom you will experience from your business.
