How To Save Money On A Cruise

By:

If you are looking for an adventure to see the world and meet new people, give cruises a try. It can be one of the most enjoyable experiences you will ever have and the price can be dirt cheap as well.

One of the misconceptions about cruises is that they are expensive and they are reserved for super rich people. Perhaps it is because Hollywood stars and superstar athletes go on their yachts so people have this perception that this way of travel is only for the wealthy. This is so far from the truth. In fact, it is one of the cheaper methods of traveling. As with anything, if you keep a close eye on the industry, you will figure out when the best deals for cruises are. There will be a peak season and an off season. If you pick the off season, obviously, you'll get a better deal. Also, it pays if you are an early bird as your rooms often get bumped up. The fact is, if you get a good deal in your package, your room and meals per person can come to as little as one hundred dollars a day. Now seriously, where can you actually get a floating traveling hotel with all the food you can eat and entertainment for as little as that?

Speaking of traveling, you also get to see great new places. If you want to save money, yes you can stay on the boat but who wants to do that? You would want to go on excursions! However, on shore excursions are not included in the price of your ticket so you have to pay a bit more. But, if you were smart and you did your homework with travel books like Fromer or the Lonely Planet, you can basically mimic those shore excursion tours yourself with the help of the books. You'll save a lot of money doing self-guided tours because the cruise company does take a pretty big cut. Another way you can save money is to go back to the ship for your meals instead of eating out. Or better yet, take some snacks from the ship with you and enjoy your day outside.

Once you have traveled by ship to see the world, you'll want to experience it again and again. Lots of people swear that it's the only way to travel and who can disagree? A nice leisurely sail and going to exciting port cities without breaking the bank. Sounds like the way to go!
