How To Remove Blood Stains Now

By:

It has happened to all of us at one time or another, we have gotten a bloody nose or a finger cut and before we could wrap a piece of tissue around it it has dropped on our shirt, or pants, or another piece of clothing.

Now you think to yourself, great just what I needed, although a few curse words might slip out for some. Well instead of simply throwing the piece in the washing machine and hoping for the best or even throwing it away, there are simple steps to take to save that garment.

First you will need the piece of clothing with the stain, yes it sounds simple, but it needs to be stated for those that forget. Second you will need a few items including your clothing, salt (use the cheap stuff it really works), hydrogen peroxide, or shampoo. You may not need all of these items, but it is good to have them on hand in case you need them. All of this stuff you should have at home or can be picked up at your local dollar store.

The first method is simple and inexpensive, you should have salt already in your kitchen or bar. Now you will need to soak the garment in salt water. It is recommended to change the salt water as it becomes bloody or cloudy. The salt absorbs the blood from the garment, effectively removing the stain. It can take up to an hour if the stain is rather large. Depending on the stain size, it should be removed from the clothing and it can be washed as directed.

Stains can also be removed using hydrogen peroxide, instead of salt. Using the sink or a small bucket, soak the clothing in hydrogen peroxide, it may take the whole bottle and a few minutes to an hour or so depending on the size of the clothing. Clothing should be removed from the hydrogen peroxide soak only after the blood stain has completely removed.

If salt or hydrogen peroxide does not suit you, then you can always use shampoo. Shampoo should not have any conditioner in it if it is going to be used. Pour shampoo onto stain and begin to scrub the stain vigorously. Once the stain is scrubbed out , wash the garment as directed. Any of these methods will work well in removing blood stains from washable clothing.
