Smoking is a problem plaguing every major country in the world today. There are a lot of smokers who are addicted to the nicotine high and want a way out as well. The most commonly asked question is how they can quit smoking.

There are a number of things you can do to quit smoking. You are not alone in the battle and remember there are people who quit smoking every single day. So, once you decide to quit, the first step is to be strong and have the will power to follow what you decide.
Once you have decided to quit smoking, the next step is to choose a date that you want to quit from. This can be on any special occasion, or can even be a normal that you will remember henceforth!

Once you have quit smoking, stop counting the number of days that have passed since you stopped. This will make it harder and may cause you to relapse. Start by switching your brand of cigarettes and smoking something that you find distasteful. This will gradually cause you to hate the taste of cigarettes and make you want to really stop smoking. You can also list all the reasons that you want to quit smoking. It is often a powerful thing to write down why you want to do something. Once you see it every day before starting your day, you are less likely to go out and buy a pack of smokes.

Every day you can postpone your first cigarette by an hour or maybe even half an hour. Smoke only half of what you do in consequent weeks. Whenever you feel the need to smoke, think of something else and shift your focus. If needed, bring someone else in on your idea to quit and have a companion to lean on if you find it too hard to do it by yourself.

Quitting cigarettes is something that will benefit you instantaneously. The benefits of not smoking are almost immediate and your body will start cleansing itself once you have kicked the butt for good. Now that you know how to quit smoking, keep realistic targets and know that you always have the support of your family and friends during this difficult period.
