1 Electric Guitars

If you want to rock it up you are going to want an electric guitar. Electric guitars come in various different shapes and exotic colors but basically there are only two types of pick-up configuration you need to know about. Single Coil or Humbucker. Pick-ups are those strange rectangular shaped things that sit underneath the strings and amplify their vibrations. 2 Acoustic Guitars

If you are only young and learning to play acoustic guitar, a classical gut stringed guitar might be more suited to you. The reason being, that when you first start to play, your fingers on your fret hand will be very tender and the gut strings are much softer to hold down. The steel string acoustic by the very fact of having steel strings can take a little longer for your fingers to get used to.

3 Choosing The Right Teacher

Once you have found what type of guitar you want to learn to play on, you now need to look at what teaching style you want. If you choose to learn electric guitar using an online guitar course and want to learn some serious rock riffs then you must be sure that the course teaches that style of music. If you are interested in learning to play acoustic guitar with a personal tutor make sure to choose your teacher accordingly. Just make sure that whoever you choose, teaches what you want to learn or you will soon get bored. 4 Set Aside Time To Practice

This is so important in the early stages of learning how to play a guitar. This will be totally new to you and even the simplest beginner guitar lesson wont feel easy at first. You need to really push yourself on to get through the first few weeks and if you do you will be heading in the right direction to becoming great at playing the guitar. A regular 10 to 15 minutes a day is the least you should be practicing. Learning to master some of your basic technique may be a little frustrating at first, but by sticking at it you will soon begin to see some great results.
