How To Plan For The Trip Of A Lifetime

By:

While my two older brothers were studying theatre arts in high school, their troupe had the opportunity to take a behind-the-scenes look at the fundamental operations of Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida. A graduate of the program had gone on to become an administrator for the Disney resort and was able to offer this exclusive peek.

Since then, after I was regaled by their endless stories, I have craved an Orlando vacation myself. Even if I won't be able to get to the heart of the parks' operation, I still can't wait to explore, especially since I have visited the Disneyland Resort in Orange County so many times--it will be exciting to compare the differences.

But just like any popular family vacation destination, it is absolutely critical to plan correctly in order to have the best experience for everyone involved.

The first place to begin is by choosing the best time to go. This can actually be the trickiest part of the whole process. It is typically best to choose a time when it is less crowded--usually known as the "off season."

Not only is this the best way to avoid long lines to get on the rides, it is also financially beneficial, as tickets and lodging are often discounted.

Trying to find these times is the tough part, as I mentioned. The times you will usually have off of work and/or the seasons your children are out of school--holiday weekends, spring break, summer, and other times--would be easiest, but those are also the times that are easiest for everyone else.

Instead, look into mid-week vacation packages. While I lived in Anaheim, I found that Tuesdays were virtually dead at Disneyland. You will also want to travel during less popular months. October, early to mid-November, and January to February are good options.

It will be colder during these periods, but depending on where you are from, the weather may actually be a welcome change.

Be careful about going to a travel agent to handle your booking. Many travel agents charge high overhead fees that add unnecessary expenses to your total cost. However, some are able to have the first pick on discount packages--just proceed with caution.

Check out specialty travel sites to find bargains on flights and car rental. Compare the quotes you find from various sites in order to find the best deal.
Locating the best lodging can sometimes be difficult. If this is a family vacation, renting a house may end up being more cost effective than trying to book several hotel rooms. Windsor Hills rentals can start at far less than two hundred per night, which can easily be knocked down by splitting the cost with another family.

A dream vacation to the Walt Disney World Resort can be absolutely idyllic if you know how to plan properly. It will require some clever strategizing, but before you know it, you'll be packing for the trip of a lifetime.
