How To Plan A Unique Outdoor Wedding

By:

If you're thinking about planning having an outdoor wedding then you should be prepared for the challenges. The following tips are meant to help you plan an outdoor wedding stress free.

Ensure your guests are comfortable.

Try to predict the weather situation based on the time of day and month that you intend you have your outdoor wedding. Will it be sunny? will it be hot?

Do not subject your guests to sweltering heat - you can instruct your ushers to distribute ice-cold water filled bottles to guests as they're seated. And what about having your wedding plan printed on a fan so that guests can cool themselves when the need arises.

You should also provide sunscreen to guests and for very warm locations, get large electric fan and remember to get a generator and a large tent as well. If you predict the weather being damp and cold, inform your guests in advance so that they can dress themselves appropriately for the event, you may also consider availing lap blankets or renting portable heaters.

Plan B is a must

Think about the rain when planning an outdoor wedding, ensure the location also provides an indoor place as a back up just in case it rains. It's de rigueur to have your ceremony done outdoors and reception indoors.

A tent is a good option especially for moderating light showers but for heavy rain storms you may need to get a strong tent that won't flip over and expose your guests to the rain.

Plan for the wind

Outdoors wedding are always subjected to windy situations and it's good that you plan for this too. Try to avoid light fabrics such as china silks and chiffons in your bridesmaids dresses.

You should also inform your hair stylist of your intention to have an outdoor wedding so that they can plan a style that will not get messy in the wind. Men in the wedding may use pomade or similar styling products. You should inform your guests about this in advance so that they can plan.

What about hearing?

If you're gonna have your wedding in a place with plenty of noise such the beach, or even locally with kids playing and screaming around, then you should think about hiring a sound system possibly with clip mikes for the bride, groom and officiant. This can be easily arranged for by the DJ.

Decorations

When it comes to decorations, then no other wedding enjoys bountiful decoration like an outdoor wedding because nature provides all the decoration. I advice that you visit the wedding venue a week before the wedding to ensure that things are in order i.e. the grass has been mown, the flowers bloomed and the ground raked.

Catering

Make sure you employ the services of a caterer who has experience doing outside catering.

Beverages

Avoid serving strong alcoholic drinks because alcohol dehydrates, instead serve lots of teas, lemonades and punches. You should also avail plenty of water and ice. When it comes to fancy cocktails why not serve mojito or classic mint? mint is especially good for refreshing and cooling your guests.

Keep bugs at bay

A bug zapper or citronella candles are good for keeping bugs at bay.

Permits

If you're going to host your outdoor wedding in a park, then you should get necessary permits from the park department or local authority.
