How To Overcome Agoraphobia

By:

Today, the term 'agoraphobia' has a wider definition that it had when it was first introduced. It is now used to include fears not only of open spaces but also of related aspects such as the fear of crowds and the difficulty of immediate, easy escape to a safe place. Agoraphobia therefore encompasses a wide range of phobias that are based around leaving the safety of one's home, such as fear of entering shops, crowds or public places, or travelling alone by any means. Regardless of the type of phobia experienced by the sufferer, this article will inform the sufferer how to overcome agoraphobia through the daily practise of 4 easy steps.

Is Agoraphobia Harmful?

Before discussing the issue of how to overcome agoraphobia, I wish to emphasise that no matter what symptoms accompany this condition, they are ALL totally harmless. If diagnosed and treated early, agoraphobia can be fully cured; if left untreated too long, it can become a debilitating, scary and destructive condition, but only where it causes the sufferer to perform some harmful action. The feelings and symptoms associated with agoraphobia itself however, are nothing more than harmless sensations caused by the underlying anxiety which fuels the agoraphobia. Remove the underlying anxiety and the agoraphobia will dissappear.

Agoraphobia Is Just A Bad Habit

Many people think of their agoraphobia as some sort of physical or mental illness. This is not true. In fact agoraphobia is a habit which is fueled by an underlying anxiety disorder, nothing more than learnt behaviour, one that the sufferer has taught himself and one that he perpetuates every day by repeating the behaviour and empowering the thoughts that cause it. This is 100% scientific fact.

Not so long ago I was a sufferer of crippling anxiety myself and became obsessed with finding out how to overcome agorpahobia. My search lasted some 8 odd years and took me in many different directions and trying numerous methods, some drug related, others not. Today I can say with 100% certainty that I know how to overcome agoraphobia and that is to reverse the agoraphobic behaviour by practising NEW non-anxious behaviour.

How To Overcome Agoraphobia Using 4 Easy Steps

1. Discover what situation you are avoiding.
2. Decide why you feel that this situation is threatening or scary;
3. Ask a person you trust to go with you while you confront the fear;
4. Confront the fear once a day for 5 mintues, then 10, then 15, until you can stay in that situation indefinitely. Tell yourself constantly that "a habit can't hurt me".

Important Note

The 4 steps described above are the fundamental steps of how to overcome agoraphobia but it is nevertheless vitally important to address the anxiety disorder which fuels the agoraphobia. Remember, agoraphobia is not a stand alone condition, it is an anxiety related disorder and so it cannot exist without the anxiety which fuels it. There is a fast, effective, 100% guranteed method to naturally cure anxiety which I use with my clients. This method is the ONLY way to naturally cure anxiety - fact. Anyone who has ever recovered from anxiety has done so using this method, albeit perhaps inadvertantly. If you have an anxiety disorder (which you do if you have agoraphobia) it is important that you implement this method to completely remove the anxiety which fuels your agoraphobia. This is the only way you will achieve total recovery.
