How To Organize Wooden Sheds

By:

Surely, you understand how important its is to have a well organized wooden shed if you already own one. Simply because wooden sheds fill up with unnecessary items quite quickly since they are so small to begin with. The best time to start organizing it is before you even have anything in it.

If you do happen to have a wooden shed that really needs to be organized, start by taking EVERYTHING out. This way its easier and faster to start from scratch. I suggest starting early in the morning and try to pick a fair-weather day.

There are those of us who find it hard to throw anything away (as it might be important later on), but if its an item that never gets used and has no sentimental value, then just throw it out, donate, or sell them.

When you are finished removing all the items from your shed, take time to group like items into piles. Like, your bicycle gear in one group, your gardening supplies in another, etc.

Use your shelving spaces according to how big the containers are that will be placed on them. Also, keep in mind how often the items will be used. Less used items will go up higher or more out of the way. Be sure to label the outside of the containers for easy reference.

When you are ready to start putting everything back into the wooden shed, put items that you use frequently towards the front or in a place that is easiest to get to.

If you have a lot of long handled tools, such as rakes and shovels, you should purchase or build a tool rack to hold them.

Another great item to have in a wooden shed is a nice workbench. It doesn't have to be fancy. The best kind has four sturdy legs in case you need to place heavy items on it or for hammering on. A simple wood shelf underneath is a great place to store your power tools, too.

Its easier (and safer) to wheel larger items in and out of your shed. Why not build a simple ramp that you can put in the doorway. Use pressure-treated wood if you want it to be permanent. This will help it last longer since it is in contact with the ground.

Before you know it, you'll be wondering where all the extra space in your shed came from. Wooden sheds are ideal for storage, but it is so important to be as organized as possible or it will end up being essentially - a big garbage can.
