If you target well-researched keywords, get a lot of backlinks, and submit your website to search engines, you are using some of these methods.

This will not affect the SEO of the page, on which the link appears. It affects the SEO of the page that the link points to. So, you should be using anchor text keywords that describe the page that the link is pointing to.
