How To Motivate Your Employees To Work Harder Without Giving Them An Increase

By:

We all like to be appreciated, and your employees are no different. In order to get the most out of your employees and boost your bottom line, you need to implement ways of motivating them and appreciating them without breaking the bank.

One reward that rises above all the others is a flexible work schedule. This perk will offer the most gain with the least amount of pain. Try to give your employees some freedom in determining their work schedules, so that they can be off when they need to be to fetch kids or go to the doctor. Before you implement flexi time, make sure that you can trust the person you are awarding this to, so it should be your staff that have worked for you for a while and have proven themselves. The rest of your staff will want to work harder to be afforded this privilege.

Another study was done by the University of Melbourne and it was shown that people who were allowed to surf the internet for fun were 9% more productive than those who didn't. This of course should be within a reasonable limit, so don't block social networks unless you really have to.

To limit time off, it may be a good idea to give your employees an afternoon off a month. In this way they can attend to things like doctors appointments or getting their car fixed without cutting into other valuable working time.

Employees like to enjoy what they do. After all they are at work for a good eight hours a day. Encourage them to make their own decisions and bring their ideas to the table. Who knows, a lot of good ideas may come to the fore that will help the company in the long run.

Implementing a rewards system for work well done is a great way to get your employees motivated. Maybe you could have a catalogue of rewards that they can choose from if they collect enough points. In this way your employees will be bound to produce the goods.

Set aside a public space or notice board in the office where you can acknowledge good work Maybe you can implement employee of the week or month. People love getting recognition for their hard work. You could also allocate a mention of all your staff on your website. This will show your employees that everyone is important and valued by the company, even the person who makes the coffee.

One of the most important things to remember is to praise your employees for work well done. Be specific with them and tell them what you liked about what they did or contributed. This will make your employee feel appreciated and he will work harder and be more motivated to try and earn your praise again.
