One of the first things that you need to do in order to become a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is to have a great interview. Many people go to an interview with the hopes of getting through it, you need to have the mindset that you are going to conquer your interview and leave the best impression possible. The best way to do this is to have an open and honest attitude during the interview. Here are four important things that interviewers look for in a candidate:

*Be honest And pleasant
*Come prepared
*Take notes
*Dress for success.

Dress Responsibly

The way that you dress for an interview says a lot about you. A conservative look with clean clothing is an important part of the message you want to send to your potential employer. Certified Nursing Assistants have to be responsible and dependable. The trick is to dress like the responsible and dependable person that you are. Do not show up for your interview dressed in a t-shirt and jeans.

Be Honest And Pleasent

At this point, you are applying to an institution that will train you to be certified nurses assistant, or you have the training under your belt already and you are applying with certification in hand. Either way, you will need to come prepared. If you are applying at a hospital, tell them how much you love to help people. If you are applying at a nursing home, tell them how much you love to help the elderly. Be endearing and compassionate.

Do Your Homework

When you go to an interview, go prepared. If you have your certification, know everything that you can about the hospital of facility to which you are applying. If you are hoping to be hired by a facility that puts you through their own training and certification program, know everything that you can about the facility and the position for which you are applying. Be prepared to answer any questions put to you intelligently and with plenty of feeling. If you are asked a question for which you are not prepared, take a deep breath and express your honest feelings about it.

Be Prepared

If you are prepared mentally as well as physically for an interview, you will be able to put your best foot forward. This means getting to bed early the day before and having a good breakfast the morning of. You will think better if you are not tired and have food with which to feed your mind. A certified nurse's assistant is a wonderful place from which to launch your career in health care. Be confident and you will land the job with flying colors.
