How To Make Your Car Safer For Use?

If you have a car, I am pretty sure that you are not paying a lot of attention to its tires. However, remember that without tires your car will not be able to function at all and also if they are not properly maintained the risks of getting involved in a traffic accident is a lot higher. Believe it or not more than 50% of the car accidents are caused by tire failure.

The main thing that you should do if you want to maintain your car tires is to check their pressure. In the owner"s manual of your car you will find out what is the recommended pressure for your car tires and you should maintain it. Have in mind that with the modern tires, you are not likely to notice if their pressure is dropped out with about 50%, so you should use a pressure gauge to measure their pressure. Make sure that your car tires will be cold when checking their pressure, because that way you will get more accurate results. Check the tire pressure at least once per month and once you notice it is dropping out, inflate your car tires.

Another important thing that you should check is the tread dept. If the tread dept of your car tires is lower than 1/6 of an inch, this means that you have to replace your car tires immediately. The reason for that is the fact that this is the absolute minimum dept of the tire"s tread and it is dangerous to drive with such tires. Also, have your tires properly rotated to ensure a uniform wear. It is recommended to rotate them every 5,000 miles unless your manufacturer"s manual says a different procedure or recommendation depending on your car type. It is time to replace those tires when they are already worn out. It is indeed difficult and dangerous to drive on worn out tires. Choose the tire that would suit your driving style, the season, and the type of car you"re driving.

Getting proper tires and maintaining them well also lowers your insurance costs since the insurance company can sue you for negligence on the basis of using worn out car tires. That"s why it is really important to have well-maintained tires to ensure the safety of you, your family, and your other passengers.
