To make lunch bag puppets

Turn the bag upside down and use art materials to create a face, hair,
and decorations to hide the tied opening.
Tie the opening securely closed with yarn.
Place glue on a craft stick and stick it inside the opening of the bag.
Stuff the paper bag with crumple newspaper.

Children use the bag puppets to act out stories.

secure it with yarn.
Paint a lunch bag using black pain.

To make paper bag character hats

Attach loop and hook fasteners (Velcro) onto the front of the hats and
onto the backs of the character pieces.
Use other flattened bags to draw story, nursery rhyme, or fingerplay
characters. Cut them out.
Staple or tape the hat to secure it in place.
Fold the bag to make a three-point hat or cut as shown in the
illustration.
Cut off the bottom of the bag and the bag on the seam side so that it
lays flat.

Children wear the hats and place the character pieces onto their hats
when acting out a story, nursery ryhyme, or finger play.

To make monkey masks

Use markers to draw the monkeys head (no face) with ears around the
hole.
Cut out an oval the of size of a childs face on one wide side of the
bag.
Cut the bag as shown in the illustration. Use the bag bottoms to make
the monkeys.
Measure about 12 from the bottom of the bag.

The masks are fun to wear while acting out monkey songs.
Children place the bags over their heads and peep through the oval to
be a monkey.

wide panels of the bags.
For a childs head to fit through in the reinforced bottom of the bag.
Lay the flattened paper on the table. Cut out a hole large enough.
Cut out the narrow sides of the bag, leaving the wide sides and the
bottom intact.

Character smocks are fun for role-playing favorite stories and songs.

Children put their heads through the hole and wear the remaining sides
of the bag in the front and back of their bodies.
