How To Maintain Your Humidifier Filter Wf2

Many people use humidifiers at home and at offices to improve indoor air quality during winter. To make sure that a humidifier works properly adequate maintenance is required. Particularly, the filter should be checked regularly in order for the unit to provide enough humidity and to have a longer life span.

Below are detailed guidelines as to when to replace filters for Vicks Cool Moisture Humidifier models V3100, V3500, V3600 and Kaz HealthMist Model 3020. The recommended replacement filter for these models is Kaz WF2 fitler. It should be noted that for the V3100 humidifier the filter needs to be "flattened" out. You can see that the original filter in your unit is also a round one.

According to the manufacturer, the Wicking Filter must be replaced in case of any of the following:
1. There is a buildup of impurities and minerals on the filter, which is easy to notice as the filter simply changes its color.
2. Humidifier output is decreased. The humidifier runs for increasingly longer periods of time between fillings.
3. The top of the filter is not moist to the touch.
4. The filter is damaged and you can see tears or holes in it.

Moreover, at the end of season the filter should always be removed and thrown away. The filter should never be left in the humidifier during storage. It is a good idea to order a new Kaz replacement WF2 filter at that time so that it is ready for use on time for the new season.

In general, the Wicking Filter should be replaced at least one or two times during the season. Usually, this means that filters last 1-3 months, depending on water quality, air quality, usage and care. Tap water may contain pollutants and minerals (scale) that can deposit on the inner surfaces of the Humidifier and clog the Wicking Filter. Such scale can accelerate the growth of microorganisms and can impair the performance of the Wicking Filter.

The manufacturer advises to always use replacement WF2 filter manufactured by Kaz since any other filter may result in poor performance.
