How To Locate Chicago Apartments And Find Best Neighborhoods To Live In

By:

To begin a search for a Chicago apartment there are a few steps that you must take. You will need to create a budget, choose a location and be ready to sign when you find that perfect Chicago apartment.

Creating a budget might sound easy, but in reality it is not. Many of out-of-towner's relocating to Chicago go through the initial shock of what their dollar gets them in the Chicago apartment market. In many of near by surrounding suburbs you might spend $750 on a one bedroom apartment in some cases even a two bedroom apartment. When you come into the trendy Chicago apartment market, $750 will probably land you in a studio. That being said there are few Chicago neighborhoods that will offer you a lot more for $750 than others.

In Logan Square and Lincoln, you will be able to find a nice studio apartment for around the $750; in some cases you might even be able to find a one bedroom. In Lincoln Park and Lakeview, you will probably land a studio for this price and it will probably not be as updated. Yes people, there are more neighborhoods other than Lincoln Park and Lakeview. Logan Square and Lincoln Square offer pocket friendly prices and great transportation options as well. So be open minded on location, not saying that you should inquire about Chicago apartments in every single neighborhood. Just do a little homework on your own and be open to other neighborhoods other than what you constantly hear about.

Finally, when you find an apartment that you like, take it! The chances are that if you're interested in a certain apartment someone else is also interested. Chicago apartments are always in high demand, hence the high prices, especially in the middle of rental season, which usually starts in the early spring and goes through late fall. During the height of rental season, I recall showing the same apartment to three different groups of potential tenants within a half an hour. Two out of the three groups liked the apartment and came into apply for the same apartment just minutes after the showing. This was awesome for the landlord, the problem was that both groups arrived at the office at the same time and began to argue over the apartment. Eventually both parties ended up with an apartment, but this goes to show you how competitive the Chicago apartment rental market is.

The reason for this article was to point you in the right direction when beginning your apartment search in Chicago. To recap, create a budget, choose a location and be ready to sign when you find that perfect Chicago apartment. Follow these three guide lines and your apartment search will be smooth sailing.
