How To Live Without Regret

By:

How can we possibly live without regret, you ask? To a lot of people, this might sound like a ridiculous proposition. The fact is, regret, guilt and other related emotions were all created. They aren't natural or intrinsic. Joy is intrinsic.

We feel regret because others in our lives taught us to feel that way under certain circumstances. Regret and guilt are two of the many feelings we have that not only don't serve us, they get in the way of our progress. They hold us back like a roadblock.

Here's a newsflash for you-- we don't HAVE to regret ANYTHING, EVER! We can choose not to, because we choose our thoughts. If you're thinking something that doesn't feel good, stop thinking it, and choose a new thought that feels good.

We're busy people, right? So why would we waste precious time thinking about things that help no one, and actually hold us back and make us feel bad?! That's crazy! But that's the pattern many of us have grown up with and still live by today.

Sure, once in awhile you may wish you hadn't forgotten someone's birthday, but is it really important in the big scheme of things? Mightn't that person forgive you, just this once? Don't you think they ever forgot someone's birthday?

I learned a great little saying recently that somehow passed me by when I was young, but I'm really glad it came up again. "Those who matter don't mind, and those who mind don't matter. "Remarkably, that profound bit of wisdom came from good ol' Dr. Seuss. Apparently he had lucid moments when he had more things on his mind than green eggs and ham.

Maybe you're still living with people who go out of their way to "make you feel guilty". How do they do that? The answer: they can't unless you ALLOW it. If you just can't please someone, stop trying, and decide to think your own thoughts rather than the ones they're trying to plant in your brain. It's all your choice.

Most people do the best they can in any given moment. Who are we to judge them? Or they us? We all just are. And life goes on no matter what anyone thinks, so let's live consciously in every moment and make the best of every situation. Let's do and say what feels good, instead of what brings down our vibration.

Abraham-Hicks share this advice. "Make a decision and then make it right. There just are no wrong decisions. You could go this way, or that way, and either way will eventually get you to where you want to be. But in the moment you start complimenting yourself on the decision you've made, in that moment, you come back into vibrational alignment with who-you-really-are. "

There's no need to regret any decision. Everything that happens is for your best and highest good. If you can accept that, deep down in your very core, you will be able to live a life of joy and abandon, because you will follow your heart, and your gut. You will trust them to tell you what to do. It's almost too easy, isn't it? That's what an enlightened life will give you. Ease and grace.
