Gnats are a major problem of most individuals since they tend to fly out and swarm during the months when people tend to stay outside of their homes like during summer. But there are ways on how you can stop them from bothering you without harming yourself or your surroundings.

The materials needed for this endeavor are liquid dish soap, white vinegar and bowls.

Look for the breeding areas of the gnats. These troublesome creatures thrive in the same settings like mosquitoes. Remove stagnant H2O and decomposed plants to deprive them of their favorite hideaways.

Even if you are living near a lake or swamp, you can control the population of gnats around your residence by removing stagnant H20 in fountains, tire swings and anywhere that water might accumulate. You should also maintain the cleanliness of your gutters since it is also an ideal breeding nest for these pesky insects. Do not pour too much H20 on your plants since a moist soil can also serve as a haven for the insects' larvae.

You can also use insect repellent spray that contains citronella when you are going in an area that is overrun by these creatures. Make sure that the repellent that you are using is safe for children since some products contain ingredients that are harmful to young kids.

To secure a certain area outside of your home, spread a non-harmful insect repellent product like Gnat Scat all over the place, 12 hours before using the place. Insect sprays that are made from cedar are also very effective. You can also use fiberglass screens to protect the windows and porch of you home.

A fine fiberglass screen will also allow you to keep the smaller variety of these creatures from entering your home. Finally, spread out bowls that contains a mixture of white vinegar and dishwashing liquid. The insects will be lured in by the vinegar but they will be trapped in the dishwashing liquid and drown.

This is an excellent method for gnat control but make sure that you will only place the bowls filled with the vinegar and dishwashing liquid mixture in areas that are overrun with the insects only.

Otherwise, the insects may overrun the areas of your home that you are living in and bother you rather than going to the bowls filled with vinegar and dishwashing liquid. By doing these steps, you can ensure that you will not be bothered by these insects anymore even if you are outdoors.
