How To Install A Dishwasher

By:

Although a dishwasher, with its large size, may seem like a difficult prospect to deal with, installing it is not actually such a tedious task as it might seem to be at first. The only thing you need is some fundamental know-how of plumbing and electrical fittings as well as a knack of trying.
The process of installing a dishwasher is majorly common sense along with a little hardwork. It is logical, thus, to put in a little effort than to pour out a lot of money to hire a specialist simply to do something so basic.
Simply follow the step-by-step do it yourself instruction guide below on how to install a dishwasher.
1.Read the instruction booklet carefully: People often miss out on something as elementary as reading the instruction book that came along with a product, as it often provides the missing link between what was done and what should have been done. It will also help you in determining if you have all the necessary parts required for installation or will need to purchase stuff like clamps, screws, nuts etc.
2.Check the space: The first thing to do is to ensure that your machine will fit in the space provided. While most machines are adjustable as far as their height is concerned, it is better to keep the dimensions in mind when installing a new cabinet.
3.Check for fittings: The space meant for installing the dishwasher should have the required attachments such as water supply pipes, drainage pipe and electrical plugs. If not, then you will have to use a hole-saw to create openings for the pipes and cables.
4.Connect the drainpipe: Begin by connecting the drainpipe with the discharge pump and secure it to the top of the cabinet with a tape to avoid backflow. Next, extend the pipe to the garbage disposal inlet.
5.Connect water supply lines: It is better to connect a dual outlet valve to your supply line so that one of it can be connected to the inlet valve of the dishwashers hot water supply while the other can still provide water for the sink. Connect one end of the supply pipe to the valve and the other to the dishwasher inlet.
6.Connect the electrical wires: Before attempting to connect the wiring, you should cut off the supply line to the dishwasher. Run the cables through the openings in the cabinet and connect the black and white (or red) wires to the corresponding lines on the machine.
7.Time for the final check: Once everything is fitted, turn on the power for a dry run. If it works fine, carefully slide the machine into the cabinet. Level and screw the dishwasher firmly in place by tightening the ground and mounting screws.

Your new dishwasher is now ready to roll!
